You the consumer have the right to challenge any items you deem questionable that exist on your credit report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The credit bureaus are then required to complete the investigation within a "reasonable period of time". This time period has been set at thirty days. If, after an investigation by the credit bureau, the disputed information is found to be inaccurate or can no longer be verified, the credit bureau shall promptly delete such information. Remembering that one in three Americans have some sort of error on their credit report, exercise the right to question the accuracy of yours!
